Ask us to delete data about your posts
If you wrote posts on Reddit, X or Threads, you can ask us to delete any data about them that Rehumanize holds.
What we may hold
The public version of Rehumanize holds nothing about post authors: no handles, account IDs, post IDs or post text. A request about it finds and deletes nothing.
Rehumanize Research, used only by people taking part in a research study, holds the text of each post its participants see unless the research team has switched that off, and may hold, where the research team has switched it on: the author’s handle (as shown, or as a code), the account ID, and the post’s ID, links and hashtags.
A deletion request cannot find LinkedIn records. Rehumanize Research can also run on LinkedIn where the research team has switched it on, and may then keep a post’s text, but it never records a LinkedIn author’s handle or account ID. Requests are matched only by those, so LinkedIn is not in the form’s list of platforms.
What happens next
- You send this form. The reply is the same whether or not we hold any data about the handles you give.
- An administrator emails you to confirm that the account is yours. This happens by email, outside this website.
- The administrator deletes the records found, or declines with a reason (for example, where data protection law allows research data to be kept). This happens normally within 7 days, and no later than one month.
Only records that hold your handle or its code can be found. A post that only mentions you in its text, and records from the Android study app, which never records author handles as separate fields, cannot be found this way. When deciding, the administrator can also stop that handle being recorded again as a post’s author; the list that does this holds only a code made from the handle, not the handle itself.
What we keep
Your email address and message are kept only until your request is decided. After that, the request log keeps the handle and its platform, the date, the decision (with the reason for a decline), the deciding administrator, how many records were deleted or changed, and which earlier exports held them.
Other requests about your data
To see data about you, correct it, have it deleted, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable form or withdraw your consent, write to rehumanize-project@tuta.com. We reply normally within 7 days, and no later than one month.
Withdrawing your consent needs no request: switch research off in the extension’s side panel or on the Android app’s main screen. No further research records are made from then on.
Public-version research records carry only a random session code that our server does not link to you or to your install ID, so they cannot be found for one person.
Your consent record is kept with your install ID, a random code made on your device so that your choice can be changed or withdrawn. The install ID is pseudonymous personal data. You never need to know this ID: changing your answer in the extension or the app updates the record.
Study participants use “Withdraw from the study” in Rehumanize Research; the privacy policy says what happens next. [To be completed by the research team: how participants ask to see or correct their records.]
Correcting a record: [To be completed by the operator: how a correction request is handled.]
You can also complain to a data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, the authority of the country where you live or work, or where you believe the law was broken.
